Sounds like you all had a wonderful time.  I live in Silicon Valley and have a loving family.  Take a look at our Christmas blogs lingardchristmas2006.blogspot.com and lingardchristmas2007.blogspot.com.

I went to Ohio State after Fairborn and graduated with a BA in psychology.  I moved to California and spent several years at Lake Tahoe.  I changed careers and became a CPA.  I met my wife Elaine while on an overseas assignment.  Now our children are in their teens.  I work at Cisco Systems.  Lately my wife and I joined a health club and we work out regularly.

I'm sure you found out how deeply significant our memories of high school are.  Nothing about this is lost on me.  I invite you to reach out and send an email to start conversations that we'd have had if I'd been able to make it to the reunion.

Best wishes -
Bob

Wow. I am still amazed--and I was there just one night!

I talked with a lot of  classmates. I got a lot of hugs and  even a kiss on the check from couple really, really good looking women!  I watched a lot of  folks play catch up on Saturday night (Of course, I am also assuming there was  a lot more catch up Friday night, but I couldn't make it in for the party--dang!).

I watched the way people talked, the animation as they talked, and the really, really warm and genuine smiles.  Sadly, I didn't get to see some folks, and unfortunately some others may be in trials of their own right now and could not come (--especially you sweet R.!!), but I would bet they would have  talked and smiled and gestured the same way they did 40 years ago!

So, I came to a simple conclusion -- stuff happens, and no matter how it happened, or whether it was a Blessing or a Trial, we really haven't changed a lot!

(Of course, we won't talk about the 8 inch bigger waistline I have or the 2 inch short pant legs that go along with it!)

A lot of classmates have succeeded beyond the wildest expectations anyone ever thought would ever occur to them!  Many classmates have been through more than a fair share of trials. but still smile that genuine smile. WOW!

But, you guys have not really changed over the years.  I did find out some untold secrets about a few of you, which was really amusing, especially since a lot of classmates thought these individuals either wore iron corsets or starched shorts!  But no--not so!!

Even so, I saw a phenomenal amount of love in your eyes and your smiles

All of you, Class of 68, are absolutely awesome in every respect!

I want to see each of you again next reunion. I have been most blessed by your presence. I felt like I was home again. I want to feel that way again!

Until the next one!

Dear Fellow 68 Flyers,
Almost a year ago I was invited to attend lunch with Garnette Gilliam(Walker) and Debbie Johnson (Howell).  I was asked to attend the next reunion committe meeting.  I am glad I did. I rewnewd some old friendships with the likes of Gary Smith and Dave Cooper. I struck up a freindshiop with some old aquaintances.  Corky Shull needs committed.
It was great to see everybody pitch in.  But my hat goes off to Garnette Gilliam (Who nobody seems to remeber!), Barb Reynolds McCormick, Craig Moore and  Dick Helms.  I Salute them as they went above and beyond the call of duty!

Hi Classmates. 40 years - still can't believe it! I really wanted to see everyone, but it isn't looking good right now. I have so many happy memories of fun times and great friends at FHS. Class of 68 was the best by far! Update on my life - After marrying Guy Billard ('67) and moving around a bit thanks to the USAF, we ended up in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. I graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU) and went to work for American Airlines. I've been at AA for 30 years now. I am a contract administrator and am currently in contract negotiations with our Flight Attendants, making it very difficult to get away to attend the reunion. Our schedules are pretty erratic during negotiations. I have enjoyed the travel privileges that came with my job and have managed to see quite a bit of the world over the years. (Favorite foreign destinations - London, Paris, Singapore, Copenhagen. Most unusual/interesting foreign destinations - Senegal, Iceland. Least favorite - Rome, Caracas) I enjoyed international travel so much that in my early 30s I started working on my master's degree in international relations. I decided to pursue a career in the foreign service and just when I was accepted at Georgetown securing that career, I learned that I was about to be blessed with a baby - my gorgeous son, Ashton, who is now 22 years old and about to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington. I decided that the foreign service wasn't a great career to pursue as a mom. Instead, I continued working at AA and took on other interesting jobs like soccer coach, soccer commissioner, hockey mom, lacrosse team president, etc. A VERY FAIR TRADE IN MY OPINION! I am currently single and caring for my dad who, sadly, has Alzheimer's. I'll be so sorry if I don't get to the reunion, and may yet jump on a plane at the last minute if I'm able. But in the meantime, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will be a 45th reunion that nothing could keep me away from! I welcome emails and would love to get in touch with everyone and hear about your lives. From what I've seen so far, it looks as if we had a very interesting and successful class. Thanks so much to all the efforts of the reunion committee. It was fun watching the progress and seeing the pictures. Great job! I'll include some pics when I figure out how.

Congratulations to everyone who has put in all of the efforts for this reunion and website!

I was unexpectedly contacted a few weeks ago about the reunion – quite nice surprise. I’m glad to see that the Flyer spirit is still alive and has such enthusiasm.

I’ve only been back to Fairborn a few times, for business, in the last 40 years. I’m curious about how much as changed over those years.

My wife and I are living outside Boston. Been here for over 30 years.

While I won’t be able to make the reunion, I am looking forward to pictures and a detailed report of events. When will planning for the 50th start…?

Greetings to all and many thanks to the committee members for their hard work!  I have just spent an hour taking a trip down memory lane--complete with smiles and tears.  I received the mailing Friday, followed by a call from Jo Stansbury Watters to ask me if I knew I was "missing"?  Since Les and I  live in the same Mitman Park house (2 blocks from the old high school) that we bought in 1976, I teach every day at Fairborn High School, and we have all 3 of our children and all 3 grandchildren living right here in Fairborn,  I really am only worn out, dazed and amazed, not missing!  I am looking forward to seeing everyone in September and would love to hear from anyone in the meantime.

Hello, Classmates!

Great web site -- hats off to the reunion committee!

I had a chance to attend a DoD course at Wright-Patt a few years ago and got to stay in the same BOQ where I washed windows the summer before senior year.  Craig Moore, Steve Wolaver and I went to a Fairborn HS basketball game at Dayton Coliseum.  We won, but it just wasn't the same, rooting for the Skyhawks.  Go, Flyers!

I hope to make the reunion and look forward to re-newing friendships and meeting new classmates I don't know.

Be safe, everyone.

Hello to all Flyers.
Here is what happened to the Flyers nickname and colors.
Shortly after our graduation the Fairborn City Schools split into two high schools.  Our building became Fairborn Baker(named for long time superintendent H.K. Baker) and retained the Flyers mascot and colors.  The second high school was named Fairborn Park Hills with Vikings as mascot and Brown and Gold for colors. This building is currently Fairborn High School.  Our building is now Baker Middle School.  After 10 years declining enrollment led to consolidation back to one high school.  Trying to avoid any favoritism toward either school a new mascot was created: Skyhawks(looks like a Hawk)  Colors were dreadful keeping the Blue from one and Brown from the other.  The football team took it upon themselves one year to come out in Columbia blue with dark blue piping and white highlites.  It stuck(thankfully) and the colors are officially Columbia Blue, Dark Blue and White.
The tradition of the Flyers, Blue and Gold goes back to 1925 when the Flyers were operating as Osborn-Bath Consolidated School (Central Jr. High building).  The ten year split of the high school destroyed all of that tradition and is lost forever.

Have been back to Fairborn once since graduation, took a drive one night during a business trip to Wright Patterson AFB.  Many changes were noticed, buildings and roads gone (or the memory is vague) and many new things, some in place of the old.  Could not get to the neighborhood where I lived as it was on the base, and that old ID that got me through the gates about 35 years ago (at time of visit) was long gone.

Yes, did manage to find the high school of our tenure, it seems so small now.  Even managed to find the new high school.

Will be interesting to learn how everything evolved from the then to the now.

Looking forward to the 40th! Outstanding job putting the site together! I appreciate the outstanding effort the committee has put into organizing this event. I'm sure that we'll see a lot of  classmates who we haven't seen at the previous reunions as the result of their effort. As a side note, I know that Clay Johnston didn't graduate with us, but he passed away in Germany in 1992 while serving in the Army flying the AH64. He was married to Mary Johnston who was class of '69. Again, thanks to all involved with the planning committee.

To the members of the reunion committee...you
have done a spectacular job assembling this web site. I look forward to Sept. 2008 and the
opportunity to revisit, for the first time in 40 years,
a place I used to call home.

Thanks to the Reunion Committee for a great job on the website - I know you have devoted a lot of time and money towards tracking down Classmates. Please let me know if there is a way to donate to help defray some expenses. I hope to make a future Committee meeting.

I am overwhelmed and delighted that I recognize virtually everyone's photo. This site tour has brought me immeasurable joy, along of course, with understandable sadness at the loss of some of our classmates. Looking forward to next Sept.! Fantastic job Reunion planners!!! TAC
